Iowa State’s season ended Saturday in Knoxville with an 80-73 loss to No. 12 Toledo in the first round of the women’s NCAA tournament. Fifth-ranked Iowa State, the winners of the Big 12 Conference tournament, struggled to shoot all day. The Cyclones finished with 24-69 shooting (35 percent). The team took 31 threes and made just 6. Ashley Joens, in the final game of her storied Cyclones career, led the team with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Toledo led by as many as 15 points in the second half. ISU cut the lead to 6 on Lexi Donarski’s jumper midway through the fourth quarter, but never got closer than that. Quinesha Lockett of Toledo was the star of the game with 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. ISU, ranked 17th in the country, finished the season with a record of 22-10.
