The lights have just gone out on one of the most famous blocks in Hollywood.

With just over 24 hours to go before the Oscars, a power outage threatened preparations for Sunday’s Oscar broadcast. Shortly after At 1:00 p.m., a source on the scene at the Ovation Hollywood complex reported that power was out on the entire block between Highland and Orange Avenues, a stretch of Hollywood that is becoming the busiest block in the city.

Crew and price insiders were stuck in elevators and on escalators, and local shopkeepers were forced to close up shop for the day, according to information on Twitter. The news comes after a few days of heavy rain over Los Angeles, which is expected to clear before the awards show begins on Sunday.

It is understood that rehearsals inside the Dolby Theater are underway and the outage inside was only temporary, lasting seconds before reversing.

The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power for comment.

The biggest night of the year takes place at the Dolby Theater on Sunday at 5 p.m. PT., with Jimmy Kimmel as the evening’s host for the third year.
