The Razzies are not a girl’s best friend.
“Blonde,” Netflix’s exploitation drama about Marilyn Monroe, is the worst movie “winner” at the 43rd annual Golden Raspberry Awards (aka Razzies), which brazenly honors the year’s most awful performances and movies. The NC-17-rated film, which is based on Joyce Carol Oates’ 2000 novel, also took home the trophy for worst screenplay.
The film’s Razzie nod comes as Ana de Armas prepares for Sunday’s Academy Awards: She is nominated for best actress for her tragic turn as the late Hollywood star. But “Blonde” wasn’t the only film to score double wins from the Razzies this year.
Tom Hanks wins the first Razzie Award for Worst Supporting Actor
“Elvis” is up for eight Oscars, including best picture, but earned two Razzies for Tom Hanks. The beloved A-lister took home the Worst Supporting Actor award for playing mustache-twirling Colonel Tom Parker, the despotic manager of Elvis Presley (Austin Butler). Hanks also got the worst screen combination for his use of heavy prosthetics and an even heavier accent.
“Morbius,” Sony’s Marvel anti-hero misfire, also managed two awards for worst actor (Jared Leto) and worst supporting actress (Adria Arjona). The animated film only received 16% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and became a viral meme thanks in part to its flopping (and re-flopping) in theaters.
Razzies acknowledge ‘blunder’ with child actor nomination

When the Razzie nominations were announced in January, the organization generated online blowback for nominating Ryan Kiera Armstrong, then 12, for worst actress for “Firestarter.” Razzie co-founder John Wilson rescinded the nod and apologized, adding that no one under 18 will be considered for future “awards”.
The Razzies doubled down on the apology by giving themselves the worst actor award and “won by a landslide,” according to a press release.
Additionally, this year’s Razzie Redeemer Award goes to Colin Farrell, a worst actor nominee for 2004’s “Alexander” but now a best actor Oscar nominee for “The Banshees of Inisherin.” The Razzies are voted on by approximately 1,000 film fans and industry members. After years of in-person ceremonies, the winners are now announced via the organization’s YouTube channel.
