China continues to report a rise in flu virus cases across the country even as warmer weather returns, with one in two people examined in hospitals with cold symptoms testing positive for the pathogen.
Influenza positivity rates in hospitals monitored by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention in the week ending March 12 rose to 53.2%, about 13 times higher than a month earlier, the latest Data shows. In contrast, Covid-19 positivity rates remain subdued at 2.7%, and the country had reported no coronavirus-related deaths for three weeks as of March 16.
